About Us

  • Who we are:

Sheridan Park Alliance Church (SPAC) is a multicultural, multigenerational Christian community, serving Mississauga and Oakville.

Part of the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada, we began in 1967, meeting at Homelands Public School on Homelands Drive. In July 1979, we moved into our present location.

As Mississauga grew by welcoming people from all over the world, so did Sheridan Park Alliance Church. While we still retain some of our founding members, half of all adults in our congregation today were born outside Canada. Average attendance on Sunday mornings is approximately 125 people, from infants to seniors.

Relationships are important to us at Sheridan Park, because we believe that God works in and through people. So we strive to support and encourage one another as - individually and corporately - we seek to learn and become all that God would have us to be.

Life is full of big questions. At SPAC, we don’t claim to have all the answers, but we do claim to know the One who does!

If you’ve never been to a church before, but find yourself searching for answers to some of those questions; if you’ve grown up attending church and are looking for a place to worship, or if you fall somewhere between those two extremes, you will find a warm welcome at SPAC.

    What we believe:

The more we learn about God, the more we find there is to learn. But here are some of the fundamentals of our faith:

God - There is one God, who is infinitely perfect, existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Jesus - Jesus Christ is true God and true man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died upon the cross, the Just for the unjust, as a substitutionary sacrifice, and all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood. He arose from the dead according to the Scriptures. He is now at the right hand of the Majesty on high as our great High Priest. He will come again to establish His kingdom of righteousness and peace.

Holy Spirit - The Holy Spirit is a divine Person, sent to indwell, guide, teach and empower the believer, and to convince the world of sin, of righteousness and of judgment.

Bible - The Old and New Testaments, inerrant as originally given, were verbally inspired by God and are a complete revelation of God’s will for the salvation of people. They constitute the divine and only rule of Christian faith and practice.

    When we meet:

We gather together to worship as a congregation each Sunday morning from 10:30 a.m. until noon. During the service, we offer nursery care for babies and toddlers (under the age of three). Children ages four to 11 join their parents for the first part of the service – during which we sing songs of worship, hear announcements (about church-related activities and opportunities for involvement), and pray – and then go downstairs for their own special time of age-appropriate learning, worship and fun called Kidz Konnecting.

Throughout the week, there are also other opportunities to meet! Explore our web site for more information.

    What to expect:

Joining us for Sunday morning worship? Great! Here’s what you can expect:

We have plenty of free parking available. Unfortunately, we’re not yet wheelchair accessible - but we’re hoping to be one day soon.

Our Sunday morning services reflect our multigenerational, multicultural make-up. If you’ve ever been in a very traditional (sometimes called “liturgical”) church, you’ll find our services contemporary and casual. If you’ve ever been in a very contemporary, casual church, you might find us leaning toward the traditional. If you’ve never been in a church at all, you might find us strange. But we hope you’ll enjoy being among us, and that you’ll find us welcoming and friendly!

Please dress as you feel comfortable. On Sunday mornings, folks wear everything from suits and ties to jeans and T-shirts.

Upon arrival, greeters will welcome you at the door. Feel free to ask them any questions you might have, for directions to the coatroom, nursery, washrooms, etc.

As you enter the sanctuary, ushers will offer you a bulletin outlining that week’s service, special announcements, congregational prayer requests, etc. Sit wherever you like. Feel free to chat with those around you, or to introduce yourself as a visitor.

Services begin promptly at 10:30 a.m. Congregational singing is accompanied by the piano and/or instruments, and led by worship leaders on the platform. The words to songs and hymns are projected on a large screen so everyone can follow along. We typically greet one another with a handshake at the beginning of each service, pray together, and read from the Bible aloud together or hear it read. If you have a Bible that you like to read from, by all means, bring it along. If you don’t, not to worry; we have some available in the pews, and longer passages are always projected on screen or typed out in the bulletin.

We take up a financial offering (to help pay for the needs of the church and for neighbourhood and global ministries) by passing collection plates down the rows – but please don’t feel any obligation to contribute if you’re visiting.

The children (ages 4 to grade 6) are usually invited to the front of the sanctuary for a special story and prayer, before they are led downstairs for their own special service called Kids Konnecting.

Our pastor - whose name is Pye Chew - teaches us from the Bible. (He wears a shirt and tie, not a robe or clerical collar.) The service concludes with more prayer and singing, and typically ends by noon.
